Dear Santa

Dear Santa,

I want a pingpong/pool table table for my basement. I would also like a dart board, but my mom already got me one so never mind. I was told to have a creighton shirt so one of those would be helpful. Unless someone else gives me one. I want a DVD collection of the Office seasons because I have become a big fan of that show because it is hilarious. Also, I would like the movie Step Brothers because it looks really funny and I have never seen it. If I am not able to get any of these then money is always a good option so I can get something later

Sincerely,
Michael Hahn

Warm and Fuzzy Christmas Moment

Every year for me has been warm and fuzzy. We always go to church and listen to the Christmas service. Then we rush home and we settle down and gather around our tree. My parents have a glass of wine and we find our presents under the tree. We open our presents with glee. We watch eachother open presents and eachother that their present is awesome. We finally pick up all of the trash and we go play with our presents. The next day we go to our aunts and grandparents houses and we get more presents. We spend Christmas Eve at my aunt and uncle's house. The next day we open presents from santa and we go home. The Christmas season is the best and I am happy when the break comes.

New York Times

Tyler Kepner has been writing in the deify city of the sports world. He was wrote for the Mets and is writing for the Yankees. He has also wrote for the Oakland A's and for the Angles. He told a little girl that she could become a sports writer if she wanted to. The writing world is not all males and more women are going into this profession. Kepner graduated from the Vanderbilt University with a BA degree. Kepner told this young boy to follow his dreams and that he was inspired by writing by reading SI and the sports section of the paper as a kid.

Chris Broussard graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio with a degree in English. He has written for the Akron Zips and for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has wrote for the New Jersey Nets and for the New York Knicks. I bet he had his hands full when he wrote for the Knicks. He loves the sport of basketball that is why he loves to interview the players and to be court side to all the good games. He gets to sit court-side at Madison Square Garden, that is the biggest place to be! The biggest problem for him to travel and be away from his family.

Thankful

I had a great Thanksgiving and I had a lot to be thankful for. My family came over to my house and spent the day together. I am thankful for my mom and aunts making a great meal. I am thankful for the opportunity to play with my cousins and being entertained. My uncle and I had a great time running errands and being able to spend time with each other. We shared what was going on in our lives and I am really thankful for that.

I love the holidays because it is the only time that we all get together and spend time. I especially like Thanksgiving because we get to spend time with family and have an excuse to stuff our faces with delicious food! I am thankful for the family that I have and that is what the holidays are all about.

BCS Frenzy!!

This last weekend the BCS was all messed up. Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma was the most anticipated game of the whole season. Texas Tech disappointed us. They got killed and they were supposed to be the number 2 team in the land. The Big 12 south is now tied between Texas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. Texas is the most likely to be the champion of the south because they are ranked higher. The top four teams are from the SEC and the Big 12. These two conferences were the ones that everybody was predicting to be in the National Championship. After the two conference championships happen the big conferences will represent. The two teams that will be in there will be...? We will have to just find out and see!!

Hope

Hope is a lot of different things. People have different meanings. Hope to me has many meanings. Hope is when a person hopes something will happen. This is like a wish and sometimes never comes true. The word hope is when a person believes in something they care about and they will never say it wont come true. Hope is inside of the most beliving of people. Also, hope is something people use to get through tough times.

The common use of hope is "I hope I get an A" or "I hope I can make the team." I use hope sometimes as a guess of the upcoming circumstances. When people get use the hope they can hurt themselves. When hope doesnt happen the people get hurt and then dont believe in hope. Hope can be a good thing and also it can be a bad thing.

I believe...

i believe that Fremont basketball will have a hugh turnaround this year. We were playing small last year and had to adjust greatly. This year we will still be small, but we will know how to defend the post. We will need to knock down more shots this time around, but i think we have guys that will be able to. The core guys this year is great. We are well aware of the competition and their strenghts. Thats why we have been conditioning for the past few months working to get stronger and faster. We have some dedicated players and i hope that the dedication will pay off. I believe that we will have more than 2 wins for sure. We need to stay tight as a team and let nothing get in the way of our success.

Scary Acres Experience

On monday October 27, i went to Scary Acres in Omaha. I don't normally go to haunted houses, but I went out on a limb. I went with my family and my cousin and her husband. Amanda, my cousin, was excited and so was I. First, we went to the House On the Hill. It looked like a small abandoned house from outside, but infact it was huge inside. We went through the butchers kitchen and the crazy excercist. We also saw a girl that kills babies and a funeral come to life. Throughout the house, Felipe, my cousins husband, would make jokes about the people. He was the life to the lifeless.

The next place we went to was the Master's Castle. This place was huge!! We saw a man killing a woman on a gurney. Also we saw a flubbery clown chasing us. All of the monsters chased Amanda and I because we were in the back of the group. Through the castle, my cousin would hold on to my hoodie pockets. The castle lasted a long time and the memories are unforgettable. I liked Scary Acres and I also was scared out of my mind. I will not go again this year, but I will go again next year!!

What I've Learned

This quarter I have learned that to write a story you need to go out there and you need to drag it out of people. The stories that are hard to find need the most work on. To get a good story people need to go out and interview others. To interview you need to go out and just talk to them. The interviews are nothing more than just talking just for fun. Interviews can get the stories for you. While interviewing I learned that you be at the level of the person being interviewed. To be prepared for an interview you need to have possible questions to ask. All of your questions probably won't be used, that is fine. I learned that I am okay interviewer, but I can still work on it. My favorite stories to write about is the sports stories. I already know the lingo and I am good at it.

I learned that the newspaper is very demanding. All of the deadlines must be met and you need to work well with others. This staff is fun and great to be around. The stories are out there, we just need to go out there and find it.

Every Athlete's Dream

One night I got home from playing baseball and I was beat. I went downstairs and went and took a nice shower. The moment I hit my bed I was out and that is when I had the dream.

I was playing for the high school team and was completly dominating every team. I was making play after play and producing home runs like it was my job. Then after the game a huge scout for the Cubs came and talked to me. He told me that I had great talent and would make a great pro after a year of college. So I went to Nebraska and played my way into the record books. The scout saw that and they brought me straight up to the pros. I worked my way up passed the normal starter and at the end of the season became rookie of the year. The playoffs came and I won a few games off of a game-winning hit and was on top of the world.

The World Series came and we were in a dual. One game would go to us and then to them. we would hit a homerun then they would. The crowd would roar when my name was announced and would go nuts when I would make a play. The finally game we won and the town was ours I was named MVP and was on top of the world. Then...my alarm went off!!

MLB Playoffs

The playoffs are drawing near and it is intense. There are four teams in: L.A. Angels, Chicago Cubs, Tampay Bay Rays and the L.A. Dodgers. The race for the A.L. Central is very close. The A.L. East is just a battle for the division. The Rays need one win for the division and the Red Sox just need to keep winning to win the Wild Card. The Chicago WhiteSox and the Minnesota Twins are seperated by 1/2 a game. Whoever wins the division is in and the other is out.

The N.L. East is also crazy close. The Phillies and the Mets are in the hunt for the division. One of them need to win so they can make sure they are in the playoffs. The Brewers are closing in on the N.L. Wild Card. the Brewers only chance for the playoffs is through the Wild Card. They have a pivotal series with the Cubs. The Wild Card is tied and the East is tight. The Arizona D-Backs were eliminated and they start their offseason early.

Presidential Election

The presidental election is coming up and it will end up changing our history. The people that are old enough to vote should be aware of this. The canidates are John McCain and Barack Obama. If Obama is elected he will become the first black president. John McCain is the republican canidate.

John McCain has people fired up about his views and are not supporting him. Barack Obama is the favorite, i think, and my choice for president. The key to this election is being informed about the race and becoming a smart voter. the election is coming up soon and you need to become aware. Seriously, do we want a president that can't even send out an email. John McCain is 82 now and is only thinking for today and not for the future. I want a president for the future and for the present.
